Speed Scrabble Tournament
The second annual Speed Scrabble Tournament for Literacy will take place from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. on February 13th in the Murray Learning Commons. The event is organized by the Learning Commons partners (the ULC, DSS, IT4U, and the Library) and the USSU. Competitors for teams, including MLAs, city councilors, journalists, professors, students, and staff, gather to play this fast-paced variant of the traditional board game. The teams raise money for READ Saskatoon's and Sask. Intercultural Association's literacy programming. The event builds awareness about the literacy gap in our growing city. Project Serve Winter
Project Serve is a one day Community Service-Learning event held on Saturday January 19th. This opportunity allows you to meet new people, help out at a local community organization for a few hours and gain experience for your classes and resumé. Interested in discovering and defining your own road in life? Join the Roadtrip Nation Learning Community in Term 2 and find the open road. Roadtrip Nation Learning Communities are open to all undergraduate students at the U of S who are interested in exploring career options by engaging with the broader community. You will have the opportunity to interview someone in the community who inspires you, and learn about how to move toward where you want to go in life. Study Abroad and Experiential Learning Expo
This month International Education Week will be held from November 13-16th and brought to you by the International Student and Study Abroad Centre and the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching Effectiveness. The ULC will be participating in the Study Abroad and Experiential Learning Expo which will be held on two days.
Tuesday November 13th on the 2nd Floor of Arts Building from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. This session will have a focus on Study Abroad. The second session will be held on Wednesday November 14th in the North Concourse of Upper Place Riel from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Once we have confirmed our list of exhibitors, we will post them on the event website. www.usask.ca/ulc/saele

Celebration of Teaching
On September 19th, the President, Provost, Vice-Provost Teaching and Learning, along with the Gwenna Moss Centre, will host the 2012 University of Saskatchewan Celebration of Teaching. This event will include a message from President Ilene Busch-Vishniac and Provost Brett Fairbairn. The event will culminate in presentation of the Provost's teaching awards for 2012 and special recognition of the University’s award-winning teachers during the past academic year. A reception to follow in the Private Dining Room in Marquis Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.

U of S Hosts Earth Summit Dialogue
The University Learning Centre (ULC) and University of Saskatchewan Students' Union (USSU) will be hosting We Canada in their cross-Canada tour on Monday, March 12th at 4pm in Arts 241. The purpose of the tour is to engage young Canadians and civil society in dialogues and action for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, also known as Earth Summit 2012 or Rio+20.
Tickets for the event are free but limited and must be reserved via Eventbrite. If you are interested, please reserve your spot immediately and encourage everyone you know - both on and off campus, the young and the old - to do the same. Additionally, stay informed and spread the word via:
