Speaking and Writing

If writing and thinking are connected, how do I practically apply that knowledge?

One of the things that you learn to do when you learn to write is you learn to slow down in your thinking, so that...In fact, I think the ideal way to write is to dictate it to yourself as you are writing it, and hear your voice on the inside, saying the words and following the meaning. If you can do that, you can just sit down and write stuff and it comes out very good. But, don't expect to do that before you've gotten out of graduate school. It's not easy to do.
