Convocation Ceremonies
The University of Saskatchewan honours more than 3,500 graduates each year at its convocation ceremonies.
For information about convocation ceremonies, look here and here. The six ceremonies for spring convocation are held over four days at the end of May or beginning of June. The ceremony for fall convocation is usually held on the fourth Saturday in October.
A number of awards to the top graduating students are presented at each convocation ceremony. As well, the university also uses this occasion to honour its faculty and staff with presentations of awards for Master Teacher, Distinguished Researcher, Internationalization (Ivany) Award, President’s Service Award, Graduate Supervisor, Outreach and Public Service, and a number of Honorary and degrees.
Ceremonies are usually held at TCU Place in Saskatoon, and each ceremony lasts between two to three hours. Graduates and their families have the chance to celebrate together at the receptions following each ceremony, held in the foyer of the Centennial Auditorium.
Students – remember, you must apply to graduate, and your application must be received on time – by March 31 for Spring Convocation, and August 31 for Fall Convocation. For more information, see your college office or check with the Convocation Office, Academic Services.
