Re: College of Agriculture - changes to the Agronomy major
program

Summary of proposal: Previously, completion of a minor in Agronomy
was optional. This proposal now requires that Agronomy majors also
complete an 18 credit unit minor in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness,
Crop Science, Rangeland Resources or Soil Science.

Rationale: The Agronomy major is an interdepartmental offering
of agricultural economics, plant sciences and soil science. The addition
of a requirement for a minor adds an area of focus to a broad-based major.
Rather than requiring 27 credit units of approved electives, Agronomy majors
will now require 18 credit units of courses to complete a minor plus 9
credit units of open electives, which will improve flexibility in this
program. and increases the number of open electives in student programs.

Impact and Relationships: This change has no impact on programs
of other colleges.

Additional resources required: No additional resources will be
required.
