ACADEMIC PROGRAMS COMMITTEE
FOR INFORMATION ONLY
PRESENTED BY: Geoff Hughes, Chair, Academic Programs Committee
DATE OF MEETING: Jan. 29, 2004
SUBJECT: Items for Information
COUNCIL ACTION: For information only
Attached is the 2004-05 Academic Schedule, which was approved by APC at its Jan 9, 2004 meeting and is being reported to Council for information. Please note that the September orientation has been reduced to one day so that classes can begin on the Wednesday following Labour Day. This allows first-term final exams to end on December 23.
The Committee has completed its review of revisions to the MEd in School and Counselling Psychology program. We are now reviewing a proposal from the School of Physical Therapy for a MSc in Rehabilitation Science.
We are developing, in association with the College of Graduate Studies and Research, a protocol which will clarify and streamline responsibilities for the review of graduate programs. We have also discussed a proposal from CGSR to institute probationary Interdisciplinary Masters programs and will be making recommendations on this proposal to the Planning Committee.
The Committee is discussing several areas related to implementation of the Foundational Documents, including academic guidelines for affiliations with off-campus colleges, applying foundational documents and strategic directions to APC procedures, the role of accreditation requirements in determining university curriculum, and academic guidelines for practicum experiences.
