Educational Psychology and Special Education

The Academic Programs Committee is reporting to Council on the approval of two items:

1. Approval of special topics course.
Under its authority to approve exceptions to the Special Topics Courses policy, the Committee approved at its Dec. 3, 2004 meeting the offering for the third time of DRAMA 298.3 Special Topics: The Native Theatrical Tradition..

2. Approval of revisions to the MEd in Educational Psychology and Special Education.
The College of Graduate Studies and Research requested program revisions to the name and credit units of its MEd programs in Special Education and in Educational Psychology. The merged program will be titled "MEd in Educational Psychology and Special Education" and will be a two-year, thesis only 18 credit unit program requiring a one-year, full-time residency. Students will follow an option in Applied Measurement and Evaluation, or in Special Education. Additional information on this program is attached. This program revision was approved by the Academic Programs Committee at its Dec. 3, 2004 meeting.

3. Discussions with Student and Enrolment Services Division regarding policy changes.
The Academic Programs Committee is also discussing with SESD several university policies in the areas of admissions and grading which could be improved due to reorganizations of the university admissions office and implementation of the new student information system. APC will keep Council informed about these discussions and about any policy changes requested.
