University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation Donations

Purpose:

The University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation exists to promote donations, to receive gifts, and to provide grants and transfers to the University. In support of these activities, the University and the University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation have entered into an agreement whereby the University's University Advancement office and Financial Services Division provide the necessary administrative support.

Policy:

The University Advancement office is responsible for coordinating gifts to the University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation and for working with Financial Services Division to provide donors with University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation receipts and to disburse gifts to the University.

Procedure Summary:

  • The University Advancement office will undertake promotion of the University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation to donors and professionals, as well as any solicitation activity associated with Crown gifts. This will consist of inclusion in appropriate printed materials produced by the Planned & Major Gifts Program and in the awareness and educational activities undertaken by University Advancement staff.
  • University Advancement staff will work with donors and beneficiary departments or colleges to determine the need to involve the University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation in particular gift plans and, when necessary, will co-ordinate development of terms of reference with respect to gifts made through the University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation.
  • Gifts made to the University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation will be received by the University Advancement office. University Advancement and Financial Services Division will review and assess the acceptability of the proposed gift in consideration of the University's aims, objectives and principles. University Advancement and Financial Services Division will coordinate the receipting and acknowledgement of acceptable gifts through the issuance of a University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation receipt and acknowledgement from the University of Saskatchewan Crown Foundation Chair.
