Q. What animal health care services are offered at the Large Animal Clinic? 


The WCVM Large Animal Clinic offers a variety of animal health care services including internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, theriogenology, anesthesiology, critical care and medical imaging.

Q. What kinds of animals are treated at the Large Animal Clinic? 


The Large Animal Clinic’s annual caseload is about 2,800 animals. The clinic provides care for cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, deer, elk, llamas, alpacas and more exotic species such as ostriches.

Q. What’s the difference between the Large Animal Clinic and a regular veterinary clinic?


The Large Animal Clinic is part of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Besides caring for your animal, WCVM’s large animal clinicians teach veterinary students in a clinical setting, prepare and give formal lectures, conduct important research, and provide telephone consultations to veterinarians across Canada.

Q. May I visit my animal while it is hospitalized at the Large Animal Clinic?
