Dr. Spencer Barber

Dr. Spencer Barber is a board-certified specialist in large animal surgery whose clinical work mainly focuses on horses. While Dr. Barber is interested in all aspects of equine surgery, he has a particular interest in orthopedic surgery and wound management.
Originally from Mitchellton, Sask., Dr. Barber graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in 1974. After graduation, he completed an equine internship at Purdue University and a large animal surgery residency at Cornell University and the University of California (Davis). Dr. Barber is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgery (ACVS) and a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP).
A longtime member of the WCVM's clinical team, Dr. Barber is large animal section head at the WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre.
Dr. Barber breeds and raises registered quarter horses on his family's acreage near Saskatoon, Sask.
