    Dr. Katharina Lohmann is a board-certified specialist in large animal internal medicine at the Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC) and an associate professor at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM). Dr. Lohmann works with all species of large animals and has a special interest in neonatal medicine. Her main area of expertise is with horses; she also enjoys working with alpacas.

    Dr. Lohmann is originally from Germany and graduated from the Freie Universität Berlin veterinary school in 1995. She then interned at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in California for two years. Her next move was to College Station, Texas, where she completed a three-year residency program at Texas A&M University in 2000. Dr. Lohmann finished her PhD program at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga., in 2004.

    Dr. Lohmann became board-certified in internal medicine (large animal) in 2000 and has been at the WCVM since 2004. She has a soft spot for Icelandic horses and enjoys hiking when she gets the chance to do so.
