    Dr. Julia Montgomery is a board-certified specialist in large animal internal medicine at the Veterinary Medical Centre and an assistant professor at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM). She has a special interest in equine nutrition, respiratory diseases, neonatology and critical care.

    Originally from Hamburg, Germany, Dr. Montgomery attended the School of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover and graduated in 2003. After graduation, she worked for a year in equine ambulatory practice in Germany and then completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Virginia. In 2005, she began an internal medicine residency at the Atlantic Veterinary College on the University of Prince Edward Island campus. She went on to complete her PhD in equine immunology and nutrition in 2008.

    Dr. Montgomery’s hobbies include reading, cooking, gardening, hiking and travelling. Her home includes three pets – her dog Rocket, cat Lilly, and bunny Cheddar. More information about Dr. Montgomery’s research interests can be found on her WCVM profile page.
