What is a neurological exam?

The neurological examination is a detailed physical exam that allows us to perform a thorough evaluation of your pet’s neurological function. Through close observation and gentle handling we are able to evaluate your pet’s mentation (level of awareness), reflexes, spatial awareness and gait.

The neurological examination is non-invasive and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. We typically perform the examination away from owners as we require ample space for a complete assessment, and it allows us to more accurately evaluate a pet’s responses. We are able to use any observed abnormalities to determine which part of the nervous is affected and make the most appropriate recommendations.
