Large Animal Surgery

The Large Animal Surgery Service at the WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre provides a range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgical procedures for large animals.

Surgical services include minimally invasive surgery, reconstructive surgery, oncologic surgery, laparoscopic and thorascopic surgery.

The Large Animal Surgery service performs elective surgery for:

• bovine and equine castrations
• dehorning
• teeth floating and extractions.

More urgent cases seen by clinicians in the Large Animal Surgery Service may require hospitalization and more in-depth testing. The list includes:

• surgical colic cases
• displaced abomasum
• laryngeal tie-back
• caesarean sections
• fracture repair
