Information for Volunteers

Volunteer Programs (Small Animal Clinic)

Each year, the WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre offers volunteer programs in its Small Animal Clinic during two different sessions:

• September to April (during the regular academic year): The WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre offers volunteer opportunities to pre-veterinary students and to those interested in the Veterinary Technology program offered at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) and Olds College.

• May to August: The WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre offers a high school volunteer program for students enrolled in Grades 10 to 12 who are interested in pursuing veterinary medicine as a career. This annual program is organized in March-April through counsellors at local high schools.

Foster Program for Radiation Oncology Patients

The WCVM Radiation Oncology Service’s foster volunteer program matches out-of-town patients with short-term, loving homes while the pets are undergoing three to four weeks of daily radiation treatments. Foster volunteers generously donate their time and homes so pets can lead normal lives during their radiation therapy.
