White Paper on Health Sciences Governance, January 2009 (PDF)

Under the Provost's leadership, the deans from the six health science colleges have consulted within their units regarding the governance and administrative structures for interprofessional health sciences at the U of S. The health science colleges include: Dentistry, Kinesiology, Medicine, including the School of Physical Therapy, Nursing, Pharmacy and Nutrition, and the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.

To help sustain its work in research, teaching, and service, the University of Saskatchewan is fortunate to have the support and assistance of numerous benefactors, some of whom wish to provide their gifts in the form of chairs or professorships. The University welcomes such support, and the Guidelines outline the categories and conditions of chairs and professorships. Please read the policy.

An initiative to establish a Chair may come from a Department, College, School or any other interested party. A letter of intent to develop the chair must first be submitted to the JCCP. Please complete a letter of intent to establish a chair or professorship, using the following template, and submit it to the Chair, JCCP. Both paper or electronic submissions are welcome. An annual reporting form must be completed on the activities and outcomes of each Chair or Professorship. The report includes both a narrative and a financial part and should be submitted to JCCP by September 1st. Template - Annual Report to JCCP (Word)

Distinguished Chairs Program
The Distinguished Chairs Program was created to honour and celebrate outstanding achievement in research, scholarly, or artistic work by University of Saskatchewan faculty or emeriti. Professors Emeriti, or current members of the University of Saskatchewan faculty possessing academic qualifications corresponding with an appointment at the rank of Full Professor are eligible for appointment to the Chairs position.

Administrative Leave
For faculty members who have served as Department Head, Assistant Dean, or Assistant Director of Libraries are entitled to an administrative leave in accordance with the Faculty Agreement. Please see the information sheet. Please direct questions to the Vice-Provost’s Office.

Professor Emeritus/Emerita
The title Professor Emeritus/Emerita is an honour bestowed by the President upon all retiring tenured full professors. It is given in recognition of retirees’ long term service to the University of Saskatchewan as teachers and scholars. Please read the guidelines. Librarian Emeritus/Emerita
The title Librarian Emeritus/Emerita or Archivist Emeritus/Emerita is an honour bestowed by the President upon all retiring Archivists and Librarian IV’s. It is given in recognition of retirees’ long term service to the University of Saskatchewan as archivists and librarians. Please read the guidelines.
