Programs and Initiatives

University of Saskatchewan - Wanuskewin Partnership

Background

The University of Saskatchewan has demonstrated a strong commitment to the community and the people of Saskatchewan from its early days to the present. Over this planning cycle (2003-07), the University will take steps to strengthen that commitment. Engagement means communication, partnerships, openness, and attentiveness.

- A Framework for Action: University of Saskatchewan Integrated Plan 2003-07

In March 2002, the University of Saskatchewan and the Wanuskewin Heritage Park Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to reach common goals and develop joint initiatives. In January 2004, the two organizations established a two-year Proposal for Cooperative Affiliation to share resources in the areas of Aboriginal awareness education, cultural resources, and facility usage. The affiliation agreement is in effect for the 2004 and 2005 calendar years.

Benefits

The affiliation agreement provides a number of resources to the University of Saskatchewan. All U of S faculty, staff, and students are eligible to apply for access to the resources for University-related functions (classes, conferences, retreats, etc.).
