World Water Day 2013

The United Nations has declared 2013 as International Year of Water Cooperation, and has designated World Water Day (March 22) to raise awareness of the complex challenges facing water management and increased global cooperation. March 22 also marks two years since the launch of the Global Institute for Water Security at the University of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Howard Wheater, Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) and the institute's director, will be giving a public lecture on Friday, March 22 to mark this occasion. Titled Water Security in Western Canada: Progress and Prospects, this lecture will showcase the research highlights of the institute in its first two years and outline its plans for future interdisciplinary research at the global scale.

The lecture will take place at Convocation Hall at 4 pm, with a Q&A session to follow. For those unable to attend, it will be livecast on usask.ca/water and live.usask.ca.

This is a free event and all are welcome to attend.
