If you own a dog and have a few minutes to spare, please fill out a 'Personality Questionnaire' to help with this research. Please also forward this to anyone you know who has a dog and might like to fill out the questionnaire. The questionnaire is designed to look at how dogs control their urges and asks a number of questions about their reactions to certain stimuli. The researchers require completed questionnaires from owners of dogs with all sorts of personalities. Hello, My name is Kent Fenton and I am a 1998 WCVM grad. I am currently on my own as a self-employed, practicing veterinarian near Calgary, Alberta, predominantly dealing with food animals. I am looking forward to any discussions that deal with the topic of applied animal ethology. The area has long been interesting to me, indirectly I guess, and now that I have learned just what "applied ethology" means, I am quite keen to educate myself in the field. The theme for the day will be "Welfare - the science behind the art" and the morning will consist of 45 minute presentations by invited speakers. The afternoon will be divided into two sessions. The first will be devoted to 20 minute (15+5) presentations on the specific theme of "Welfare - the science behind the art" and it is hoped that papers will be submitted by those involved in both research and practice. The second session will consist of 20 minute (15+5) free communications relating to any aspect of companion animal behaviour practice or research. The AGM of ESVCE will be held at the end of the meeting.
