The values reported below are from a 1987 study performed in Saskatchewan:
Eighty nine
adult farmed
elk of either sex were sampled. The animals were physically
restrained rather than sedated for sampling. Values reported are the
mean ±one standard
deviation. It is widely accepted that cervid hematological values can
vary according to sex, age,
time of year, geographic location, and nutritional status. Some of
these factors no doubt interact
to give variable results from individual blood tests. The values
below should be used with caution when interpreting the results
of your diagnostic test results.
