Adenoviruses have captivated humans in the way they gain entry into the host, roam, multiply and turn cells into virus factories. An interesting factor is how the host cell allows the intruder to enter, take over its energy and DNA manufacturing machinery and come out unscathed. What guides the adenovirus to follow the preprogrammed steps, regulated in both space and time, fascinated me to take the current project.

To solve this puzzle partially, we are studying interactions between host cell mitochondria and bovine adenovirus 3 during infection. How we will fool them is a big task at hand. Llet’s see who comes out to be winner . . . Man or Virus? If we win we will have nature’s most efficient gene delivery machine working for us.
