Teaching and Clinical Areas
After Dr.
Carruthers completed his graduate studies in 1979, he worked with the Research
Branch of Agriculture Canada in Lethbridge. In 1981, he began working at the
WCVM in the Department of Veterinary Physiology and later joined Herd Medicine
and Theriogenology (now the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences). His
clinical interest is in dairy production medicine and how it can be effectively
implemented in small herds.
Research Interests
Dr. Carruthers' primary
research interests include postpartum reproductive physiology and endocrinology
in cattle, folliculogenesis and superovulation, dairy herd health
implementation and dairy cow nutrition.
