During his small animal surgical residency at the WCVM, Dr. Gilbert was the 2006 recipient of the Merial Award of Excellence in Clinical Teaching.

Research Interests

Canine gait analysis and biomechanics, ligament and tendon injuries, wound management, arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery.

Research Grants

2010 Companion Animal Health Fund: Does tibial plateau levelling osteotomy (TPLO) create a postoperative patellar tendon angle (PTA) or 90 degrees a possible new mechanism of action (principal investigator).
