Academic Credentials
- DVM, Ontario Veterinary College (2001)
- DVSc, Ontario Veterinary College (2005)
Teaching and Clinical Areas
Dr. Hendrick is a clinician in the WCVM Veterinary Teaching Hospital's Field Service and participates in the WCVM Disease Investigation Unit.
Research Interests
Dr. Hendrick's general research interest is the epidemiology of infectious diseases in cow-calf and feedlot operations. As a graduate student, Dr. Hendrick studied several aspects of paratuberculosis (Johne's disease) in dairy cattle. This research entailed an evaluation of a commercial milk ELISA; an estimation of the impact of paratuberculosis on milk production, milk quality and risk of being culled; and a measure of the effect of monensin sodium (Rumensin) on the fecal shedding of
M. paratuberculosis in dairy cattle. Future research in the area of paratuberculosis will focus on cow-calf herds in Western Canada.
