During this time you can meet the staff, get a free tour of the space, take a fitness class and use the equipment or walking track. 

All you need is a valid Student or Employee card. Your card won't be scanned.

Beginner Wall Climbing Orientation

Familiarize yourself with our state of the art climbing wall, a 40 ft. high indoor structure designed to look and feel like an actual rock face. 

This orientation for beginners will give you an introduction to the safety procedures of our wall. All gear is provided.

Warm ups, Foot work, and Triangulation

Welcome to the fundamental principles! Here you will learn basic movement and skills to improve your climbing.

Hip Generated Movement

In this session climbers will learn to climb with efficiency. Learn to link movements and flow without unnecessary effort!

Sequencing and Route Reading

Putting it all together! In this session climbers will learn to plan ahead using techniques learned in prior sessions. New students are welcome!

Dynamic vs Static movement

Climbers will learn to utilize both momentum and control while executing challenging moves.

Winter Cycling Clinic

Don’t put your bike away just because its winter. Join Matt, our winter cycling guru, to learn tips and tricks for winter cycling. 

The clinic will be an opportunity for people to learn more about the equipment, attire, and practices that people can employ to make winter cycling easy, fun, and rewarding.

Not into winter cycling, no worries. Drop in and learn general cycling repair and maintenance tips.

Shoe Fitting Clinic

Representatives from Brainsport and Brooks Sports will be on campus to help you find the right pair of shoes for your active lifestyle. The free shoe fitting clinic will include a gait analysis using Brooks' Stride Signature software.

Shoe Donation Program

Brainsport collects gently used shoes from our customers and staff and provides them to groups or individuals in need.

Shoes go as far away as Kenya, Mozambique, Peru, and closer to home to northern Saskatchewan communities and local inner city groups. Charity groups going to overseas relief projects often will take shoes we have collected along with them to distribute to needy persons.

A donation station is located in the PAC Fitness Centre.

Personalized Training

The Human Performance Center (HPC) offers a holistic approach to healthy living, combining sport science and nutritionto achieve our goal of not to follow the trend, but to create new ones!

HPC offers a wide variety of personalized services to fit your fitness needs, including:

  • training young athletes
  • general public and older populations
  • Saskatoon Police and RCMP recruits
  • Huskie Athletics recruits and current athletes
  • rehabilitation clients
  • professional hockey players
  • Olympic athletes
  • and everything in between

If you would like to get a feel for what our HPC training would be like, take one of our classes offered over the noon our at the PAC (Power PAC's) and Education Gym (Power ED).

HPC is located on campus at the University of Saskatchewan, and has access to both the FitCentre at the Physical Activity Complex as well as the newly-renovated Balcony above the gymnasium in the Education building.

Family Skate

What better way to enjoy winter on campus than by spending an afternoon on the rink!

University of Saskatchewan Alumni Relations and the USSU have partnered to provide a family-friendly afternoon on the Rink in the Bowl. Lace up your skates and join us for a fun-filled afternoon.

There will be hot chocolate, coffee, music and maybe even a visit from Howler the Huskie!

Date: Sunday February 25

Tickets are FREE. 

Skates may be rented at no charge and will be available by the rink. There are no children sizes and adult sizes are limited, so it is recommend you bring your own if you have them. Donations of new or gently used skates are also welcome.

Get your groove on and learn some hot dance moves from today’s hottest hits! Sneakers or Jazz shoes required.

Children's Activity Camps

Keep your kids active over the February break with one of our activity camps.

Camps will be taking place on February break and offer a variety of different sports and activities are offered to provide children ages 5 to 12 with an opportunity to learn new skills in a safe, fun, non-competitive environment. The emphasis in the camps is to have fun, meet other children, and become physically active.

Participants may register in either a morning or an afternoon camp, or they may register in both if they wish to stay for a full day of activity. Extended hours available. at a cost of $35 per child for the week

Swimming

Free Student/Faculty/Staff Swim

Free Faculty/Staff/Student Swim will be held at the PAC swimming pool on Tuesdays in February. This is a great opportunity for people get used to the water, learn or master stroke technique.

Children's learn to swim classess will be held twice a day at the PAC swimming pool during reading week.

Walking Paths

We are fortunate on campus to have access to some of the best indoor and outdoor walking paths in Saskatoon. So get out there and take advantage of them.

Active throughout your day

Sitting is the new smoking is a common term used today. Studies have shown that people with desk jobs are twice as likely to die younger, even if you exercise regularily. Therefore it is important to get up and move every 30 minutes.

Squash at the PAC

Beginner Clinics

Our beginner squash clinics are intended to get people started playing squash so they can safely enjoy this fast-paced exciting sport. Learn the basics of squash including safety, rules, how to score, the basic strokes - forehand, backhand, serving, returning serve, court movement and much more. Open to all students and PAC members.

PAC Squash Nights

On the first Friday of every month, the PAC hosts Squash Nights. Come and go as you please, play many games or only a few in a casual, friendly atmosphere. Instructors will be on hand to help you with your game.
