Irene Poelzer Award Fund The Irene Poelzer Award fund was established in 1993 to honor the contributions of Professor Emerita Irene Poelzer, College of Education to the development of women's studies at the University of Saskatchewan. Tax deductable donations to the fund are always welcome. The Women's Studies Research Unit presents this award year at our International Women's Day Brunch. Irene Poelzer Award Created in 1993 to honor Dr. Poelzer's retirement from the College of Education, the intent of the award was to celebrate her contributions to feminist teaching and activity at the University of Saskatchewan. She is one of many women and men on campus who envisioned and worked toward the establishment of the WSRU, and hence our special interest in her legacy to us and to the university. Nominations and applications for the award, valued at up to $3000, are welcomed from across the campus and affiliated campus locations. According to the terms set out by Dr. Poelzer, the award is intended for a female student who meets the following criteria:
