The Saskatchewan Health Authority’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (Saskatoon Area) is happy to announce that Spectrum MD is now live for Saskatoon! Spectrum MD is a mobile application designed to help healthcare workers optimize antimicrobial prescribing and minimize antimicrobial resistance.
Our version currently carries over 20 clinical guidelines and pathways (with more to come!) as well as customized and tailored information regarding our antibiotic formulary, antibiograms and local resistance patterns. The fantastic part is that all of this information is available in one novel app-based platform. Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and complex decision support is all integrated and now easily accessible in your pocket!
Our mobile app is free for all healthcare workers to download and incorporate into clinical practice. We received funding to provide this mobile app to healthcare workers through a University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine Research Award for an eighteen-month period.
Our clinical pathways were designed with input from local experts in Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Pharmacy and with input from our local Antibiotic Usage Subcommittee. Spectrum MD has thus far been adopted by Alberta Health Services, Providence Health Care, Fraser Health, CHEO, IWK Health Centre, UCLA Health and many others.
Spectrum MD is available to download for free to your mobile device through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Please visit http://spectrum.md/saskatoon for more information.
