Please familiarize yourself with the following terms and conditions of your Residence Dining Program. If you have any further questions or concerns not covered here, please contact us.
U of S Student ID Card:
All residence students must have valid U of S Student ID Cards in order to set up the Meal Plan. New student cards are issued at the main campus Bookstore - see their website for information and hours of operation.
Rates, Terms and Conditions:
- The 2018-2019 Meal Plan Rate is included in your Residence Fees.
- The Residence Meal Plan including the number of meals and value of cash credit applied to your student card is set dependent on the building you live in.
- You are committed to the same plan choice for both Term 1 and Term 2 and Term 3.
- The meal service provided to the resident under this agreement is not transferable.
- Only one Student ID Card is provided to the Resident and only the Resident to whom it is issued may use it.
- You are required to present your Student ID Card upon entry into the Culinary Centre for your meals.
- Residence Meal Plans (including RCC $ per term) expire at the end of each term – Term 1 expires December 22, 2018 and Term 2 expires April 30, 2019.
- There shall be no rebate of charges for missed meals.
- Meal times are posted in Marquis Hall and on the Culinary Services website.
Prepaid Marquis Culinary Centre meals and RCC $ are applied to your student ID card. They are activated and expire per term as indicated below. Unused RCC$ does not carry over from Term 1 to Term 2 or from Term 2 to Term 3.

- If the meal plan holder cancels his or her meal plan before the end of term, any remaining RCC $ will also be removed from his or her account.
- RCC $ may be redeemed at the following Culinary Services locations for food &/or beverages only: Agriculture Café, Arts Café, Marquis Culinary Centre, Starbucks, Subway at Kinesiology, and Tim Hortons-Marquis/Arts/Geology/Health Sciences/, and Tim Hortons Express in Education.
- RCC $ are subject to all applicable taxes.
Please note we do provide several vegetarian and gluten sensitive options at every meal.
- The University shall not require Culinary Services to make provision for individual special diets. Should you have any dietary concerns, please contact Culinary Services prior to signing your lease. Please see our Food Allergy and Gluten Disclaimer below:
- While the U of S Culinary Services does not have gluten-free or allergen free kitchens and serving lines, we take every precaution to check ingredient information and to ensure that cross contamination of ingredients does not occur. Ingredients and nutritional content may vary. Manufacturers may change their product formulation or consistency without our knowledge and product availability may fluctuate, we cannot assure against these contingencies. It is the responsibility of the customer with food allergies or other specified nutrition concerns to make the final judgment on whether or not to question the ingredients of a food item or to choose to eat the foods selected. Guests are encouraged to consider information provided, to their own satisfaction, in light of their own individual needs and requirements.
Removal of Food or other Items:
- Removal of food or other items from the dining room is prohibited.
- The Resident agrees that all food from the dining room must be consumed therein. If the resident removes or causes food, glasses, flatware, utensils, or other items to be removed from the dining room, he or she may be subject to reprimand and other penalties up to and including suspension of meal and meal card services.
- Removal of any food and/or beverages from the dining room is considered theft. This includes filling bottles and mugs with beverages for removal from the dining room. Persons caught removing items from the dining room will be subject to residence disciplinary procedures.
- Inappropriate behaviour, such as identity theft (using another person’s card, or allowing another person to use your card), letting others in the dining room exit, and food fights will be subject to the residence disciplinary procedures. These procedures may include banishment from the dining room and meetings with the Culinary Services manager and residence manager. These disciplinary procedures may have an effect on your housing status.
- If you have concerns about the food or service in the dining room, please ask to speak with the supervisor on duty and they will be able to document your concern and coordinate to have the issue addressed accordingly.
- Residence Meal Plans are non-refundable. In the event that you are withdrawing from your studies and/or from Voyageur Place, please see your contract for details on contract notice and discuss with the Residence your allotted refund amount.
