Help - Permissions Server

ICT has provided for the convenience of non-Windows users, access to a Windows server that enables OSX and Linux users to edit permiossions and restore files. Follow the instructions below.

OSX

ON CAMPUS:

  1. Connect to "restore.usask.ca" using an RDP client (such as Microsoft Remote Desktop: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/microsoft-remote-desktop/id715768417?mt=12)
  2. Login:
    1. If you are on domain, connect using your NSID.
    2. If you are off domain, connect using your "usask\" prefixed to your NSID (i.e. usask\abc123). 
  3. Select Datastore from the dialog [Fig. 1A] and select OK.
  4. Edit permissions or file recovery as needed.

NOTE: This is a limited Windows environment used for changing permissions and file restore only.

OFF CAMPUS:

  1. Follow the instructions starting at step 2http://www.usask.ca/ict/services/network-services/remote-desktop/configure-computer-mac.php
  2. Login: connect using your "usask\" prefixed to your NSID (i.e. usask\abc123). 
  3. Select Datastore from the dialog [Fig. 1A] and select OK.
  4. Edit permissions or file recovery as needed.

Logout

1. Select Window icon at lower-left [Fig. 2A].

  2. Select Sign out [Fig. 3B]

Linux

  1. Use your favorite RDP client and login to the following server:
    1. Server: rds.usask.ca
    2. Gateway: desktopGW@usask.ca (if you are OFF campus)
