How to Download Media Files from a Course (Instructors)

Use the following process to download a ShareStream video to your computer so that you can upload it to Panopto

  1. To download a media file from ShareStream:
  2. Click on Tools in the left-hand Course menu.
    • In the list of tools in the centre, scroll to find ShareStream Media Manager, then click on that title regardless of whether it is greyed out. (Note: You do not need to click on “Enable Tool”; enabling the tool will give students uncontrolled access to view any ShareStream media file you have in the course.)
  3. Right-click on the camera icon the left of the name of the video you wish to download, and choose "edit asset"
  4. In the "Asset Media File(s)" tab, scroll down to the bottom of the window and click the "Downloadable" checkbox.
  5. Click "Save Asset" 
    • you will now see an icon in the Download column of for the video. Click this icon to download the video asset
  6. Once the download is complete you can upload to Panopto for your current course offering.

  7. NOTE:  Once you have set a video file to be downloadable, it is downloadable by students as well.  If you do not want students to be able to download your videos, you must go back to Step 4 above and make sure to unclick the "Downloadable" checkbox
