Make Someone Else the Host

If you are hosting a meeting but need to leave the meeting while it is in progress, WebEx will automatically transfer the host role to another participant in this order:

  1. The current presenter, if the presenter is someone other than the meeting host who is departing
  2. Any alternate host
  3. Any other meeting participant

Select a New Meeting Host

  1. Right-click on the name of the attendee you wish to make the host.
  2. Hover over Change Role To for a list of roles you can assign to the selected attendee. Select Host.
  3. When you are asked to confirm that you want to transfer all meeting control to this attendee,  select OK.

"Host" should now appear next to the name of the person you selected.

Reclaim the Host Role

If you want to resume the host role, you can have the current host transfer it back to you as described above.
If you are the person who created the meeting, you can also reclaim the host role by using the host key for the meeting. The host key is a unique number associated with the meeting used to confirm your identity as the owner. You can find the key in the following ways:

  • Check the emailed you received when you scheduled the meeting.
  • Go to the WebEx web portal and select Host a Meeting > My Meetings, then click on the entry for a meeting.

Once you have the host key for the meeting,

  1. Go the Participants menu tab and select Reclaim Host Role from the drop-down menu.
  2. Enter the Host key and click OK.

You should see “Host” appear next to your name in the participants list.
