Global Ambassador Program – Incoming International Experts

Deadline: June 8, 2018 - Amount: $5,000

These awards will sponsor incoming international experts who are aligned with the University of Saskatchewan’s existing and emerging areas of strength, and/or are members of innovative partnerships to travel to the U of S to engage with researchers and students. International experts and faculty may lead and/or participate in activities including, but not limited to: research, scholarly and artistic collaborations, short-term research institutes, field schools, short courses, workshops, and/or forums. Funds will be awarded to nominations that demonstrate a strong commitment to intensive, novel, and meaningful institutional engagement throughout the proposed itinerary. Successful nominations will emphasize the value of the collaboration to international academic engagement and internationalization at the U of S and must address how the nominee’s unique expertise and proposed program of engagement are intrinsic to this value. There is no fixed duration for the nominee’s agenda, however should include a minimum of 8 days of engagement activities.

Eligibility Criteria: Nominator must be a current University of Saskatchewan faculty or staff member.

Global Ambassador Program – Outgoing Faculty and Staff 

Deadline: June 8, 2018 - Amount: $5,000

These awards will sponsor outgoing faculty and staff to travel to international universities and facilities aligned with the University of Saskatchewan’s existing and emerging areas of strength, and/or are members of innovative partnerships to travel to the U of S to engage with researchers and students. Funds will be awarded to individuals and groups that demonstrate a strong commitment to intensive, novel, and meaningful engagement showcasing the University of Saskatchewan in a variety of ways throughout the proposed itinerary. Successful applicants must emphasize the value of the collaboration to the internationalization of research, scholarly and artistic work at the U of S and support students, faculty, and staff in international academic engagement. These funds have primarily been allocated specifically to support new collaborative strategic relationships with leading and emerging global institutions. There is no fixed duration for the nominee’s agenda, however should include a minimum of 8 days of engagement activities.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicant must be a current University of Saskatchewan faculty or staff member who are members of USFA, ASPA, or Exempt Staff.

Internationalization Professional Development Fund

Deadline: June 8, 2018 - Amount: $2500

These funds are intended to increase the ability and confidence of faculty and staff to initiate, build, and support international and intercultural engagement and activities that increase the capacity, attractiveness, and international dimension of the University of Saskatchewan. Funds will be granted to support international exchange opportunities for staff and faculty, with emphasis on developing the competencies needed to facilitate international partnerships, student mobility, and international research. Preference will be given to applicants without extensive international engagement histories whose applications demonstrate high productive potential.

These funds have been allocated specifically to enable staff and faculty to better support student academic and research mobility, to enrich the experiences of university employees, and to support them to diversify their work portfolios to include internationalization opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicant must be a current University of Saskatchewan faculty or staff member who are members of ASPA, CUPE 1975, CUPE 3287; or Exempt Staff.

International Travel Award in Global Citizenship and Community Service for Faculty and Staff

Deadline: June 8, 2018 - Amount: $2500

These funds are intended to enable individual faculty and staff members to participate in international partnerships and community service activities that increase awareness and provide the impetus for communications that show how our university community is addressing global challenges to support the health and wellbeing of communities around the world.

Funds will be granted to support activities that align with enhancing the supply and sustainability of global water, energy, and food supplies; promoting the health of humans, animals, and ecosystems; Indigenization initiatives and supporting the wellbeing of indigenous communities in international locations.  These funds have been allocated specifically to build the university’s collective global citizenship and international community service engagement and presence. There is no fixed duration for the exchange’s agenda but it should include a minimum of five (5) days of engagement activities, excluding travel time, such as teaching, network development, capacity building etc.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicant must be a current University of Saskatchewan faculty or staff member who are members of ASPA, CUPE 1975, CUPE 3287; or Exempt Staff.
