SPH student wins Professional Excellence Award

Arathi Arun has been awarded the University of Saskatchewan Graduate Student Association (GSA) Professional Excellence Award.

Arun is a Master of Public Health (MPH) candidate with particular interests in health policy and management. Her passion for improving community health, as well as her multicultural background has enabled her to pursue a career in the public health profession. Her work with the School of Public Health has been an invaluable experience, as it has enabled her to intertwine her academic rigor along with her passion to make an impactful contribution to the community.

A recipient of the Dr. James Rossiter MPH practicum award, funded through the Canadian Institute of Health and Research, Arun completed her MPH practicum with the Government of Saskatchewan Ministry of Health. She described the 12-week placement as an 'amazing opportunity' to develop her knowledge in health policy.

Arun will graduate from the MPH program in the Spring. She would like to continue working in health administration with the Ministry of Health as she did during her practicum, specifically in implementing and integrating health policies.
