USSU Student Health & Dental Plan
As members of the University of Saskatchewan Student’s Union, one of the privileges undergraduate students enjoy is access to affordable health and dental services not covered by Saskatchewan Health. In 2001, students voted in favour of the USSU Health & Dental Plan by referendum. All students registered in 9 or more on-campus credit units in Fall Term One who are USSU members are automatically enrolled, and the cost of the Plan is part of student fees. Part-time students, off-campus students, and students registered in Winter Term Two only may enrol on specific dates early in the term. For more information, visit the website
www.studentcare.net, Tel: 306-933-0093 or Toll-free 1-877-795-4428.
Students should ensure that they consult with their parents, spouse, or employer to discover the extent of any health coverage they currently receive. It may be possible to combine another extended health and dental plan with the USSU Plan for more complete coverage; or, students may wish to opt out of the USSU Health & Dental Plan.
The USSU Health & Dental Plan gives students the option to enrol their family (spouse and/or dependants) by paying an additional fee. Common law and same-sex couples are eligible. Enrolments must be completed during the Change-of-Coverage Period at the beginning of September. Only new Winter Term Two students can enrol themselves or their family during the Winter Change-of-Coverage Period, for coverage from January 1 to August 31, 2008. Visit the website
www.studentcare.net for more information.
Those students who are already covered by an equivalent health
and/or dental plan, can opt out and receive a credit to their student account for the amount of the Plan. Opt outs must be completed online at the website
www.studentcare.net during the Change-of-Coverage Period at the beginning of September. Students can only opt out of the Health Plan upon showing proof of equivalent
health coverage. Similarly, students can only opt out of the Dental Plan with proof of other equivalent
dental coverage. Visit the website
www.studentcare.net, Tel: 306-933-0093 or Toll-free 1-877-795-4428.
Graduate students are covered under a separate Plan and should refer to the Graduate Studies & Research section of the
Calendar or contact the Graduate Students' Association for details.
