SOC 111.3 and 112.3 (formerly SOC 110.6) are the prerequisites for all 200- and 300-level courses. All
400-level courses will be conducted as seminars and will emphasize theoretical considerations.

Double Honours
There are various Double Honours programs in Sociology and a second subject. Students are required to consult the departments concerned.

Aboriginal Justice and Criminology Program (ABJC)
B.A. Three-year Sociology
This program is intended to prepare Aboriginal students for careers in the criminal justice system. It includes required courses in Sociology, focusing on criminology and related courses. This course work includes two 12-week practicum-based courses, normally held in the summer, designed to provide students with the ability to evaluate critically two substantive areas of relevance to the program. Students intending to complete this program must consult the department in the spring of their final year in high school or during their first year of university studies to determine an appropriate sequence of courses and to arrange registration in the practicum.
The ABJC program may be completed in conjunction with a B.A. Three-year, B.A. Four-year, or B.A. Honours degree in Sociology. B.A. Three-year Sociology – Aboriginal Justice and Criminology (ABJC)

Indigenous Peoples and Justice Programs (IPJP)
This specialization provides students with an opportunity to combine discipline specific training with a focus on developing understandings of Aboriginal justice and subject matter relevant to Aboriginal communities. The four IPJP capstone courses (IPJP 301.3, 302.3, 402.3, 403.3) provide interdisciplinary study in Indigenous knowledge systems and concepts of justice.
The Indigenous Peoples Justice Program in sociology requires students to complete the program requirements for either a B.A. Four-year or B.A. Honours in Sociology.

Minor in Crime, Law and Justice Studies
The minor in Crime, Law and Justice Studies may be completed in conjunction with any Three-year, Four-year or Honours degree in the College of Arts and Science. Completion of this minor assists students in the preparation for careers in criminal justice and law-related fields. Students interested in pursuing a law degree should refer to the College of Law's section of the
Calendar for admission requirements.
Non-Sociology Majors Students must complete 21 credit units Sociology:
