Infectious Disease Testing / Criminal Record Check
The University of Saskatchewan is currently discussing mandatory testing for certain infectious diseases of students admitted to health science programs that require close contact with patients. There are currently some provinces that will not allow dentists to practice in an unrestricted fashion if they are found to be infectious with certain diseases and/or if they have a criminal record. It is in the students’ best interests to keep these issues in mind when applying to the College of Dentistry, as they could affect their ability to complete the program and/or practice dentistry following graduation.
