Registration Procedures
For detailed information about registration procedures and information on Course Offerings consult the online
registration information.
Students who are registered with Disability Services for Students may request assistance with registration. Please contact Disability Services for Students or Student Central.
Note: Students are not allowed to register, add or change classes if they have an outstanding account with the University. Classes can be dropped if there is an outstanding account.
PAWS Registration
PAWS registration for the 2008-2009 terms is available to degree students, new and continuing, in Agriculture and Bioresources (including Diploma in Agriculture), Arts & Science, Dentistry, Education, Edwards School of Business, Engineering, Graduate Studies & Research, Kinesiology, Medicine, Nursing, Open Studies, Pharmacy and Nutrition and Physical Therapy, first- and second-year Veterinary Medicine and students enrolled in non-degree certificate programs offered through the
Centre for Continuing and Distance Education.
Prior to registration, continuing students, newly-admitted students and transferring and visiting students can check through
PAWS for the date that they can begin to register. Students are strongly advised to register as soon as they are permitted to since class availability is subject to space limitations.
Students will not receive a printed copy of their class registrations. They should confirm their registration through
PAWS.
Students not Eligible for PAWS Registration
Students in Law and third- and fourth-year Veterinary Medicine do not currently register themselves using
PAWS. Students in these programs should refer to their college for registration procedures.
Registration of First Year Students in Direct Entry Programs
Direct Entry programs accept students directly from high school with no previous university credit. Applicants who are accepted under Early (Conditional) Admission may register at their assigned registration date, as indicated through
PAWS.
The final date for receipt of high school final statements is August 1. Students who have not arranged for the submission of their Grade 12 marks by this date may have their registration cancelled. If the required admission average is not maintained or Grade 12 standing has not been achieved, registration will be cancelled.
Registration to Audit a Class
If you wish to audit a class, registration and changes to audit from credit must be done in person at Student Central. Audit registrations will not be accepted until the first day of lectures for that class, and then only if the class is not filled when the request for registration is made. If "Audit with Permission" is indicated on Course Offerings, or if the class is full, a completed
Audit Form is required for registration.
Audit registrations after the deadline for adding classes (see "Important Dates" section) must have instructor and department head approval and will be subject to a $35.00 Late Class Enrolment fee for each class.
Changes from audit to credit status must be made by the deadline for adding classes for a term.
Changes from credit to audit status must be made before the last day to withdraw without academic penalty. Fee charges will be the cancellation penalty or the audit fee within allowable dates, whichever amount is greater.
The tuition for an audited class is normally assessed at 50% of the regular tuition for the class. Students are required to pay 100% of the regular tuition for auditing classes in the Adult and Continuing Education Program (CACE), the Certificates in Agriculture Program (CAP), the Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language Program (CERTESL), and the Prairie Horticulture Program.
If you are registered on an audit basis, you may attend lectures but are not entitled to have assignments graded or to write mid-term or final examinations. Your record will reflect the audit status (AU) unless you drop the class using
PAWS or unless the instructor deems attendance insufficient to earn an audit grade, in which case a grade of WAU (Withdrawal from Audit) will be assigned.
Confirmation of Enrolment
Confirmation of Enrolment is available through
PAWS.
