Top five takeaways from the last Employee Engagement Survey

Last spring USask faculty and staff were invited to participate in a brief Employee Engagement Pulse survey from June 8 to 30.

In total, more than 2,100 faculty and staff from across the university completed the survey which consisted of 20 questions about their experience working at USask. Based on the survey results here are the five top things we learned.

  1. USask’s overall engagement score of 57% remains consistent with previous surveys and is on par with industry benchmarks.
  2. The highest-ranking response that influenced the engagement score was 87% of employees indicating ‘I am very proud of the work I do’.
  3. Faculty and staff appreciate the continuation of flexible work arrangements and the option of hybrid work (on and off campus) when available.
  4. Faculty and staff have a generally positive perception of their direct manager (People Leader), however, those perceptions become less favourable towards more senior leaders (AVPs, VPs and Deans)
  5. Employees believe the university has room for improvement in making the workplace more inclusive for all employees and addressing concerns about negative behaviours.
