International Drivers

International students who are wishing to drive while in Canada are permitted to do so provided they are non-residents of Saskatchewan, carry with them a valid license from their home country and that they are in Saskatchewan for the purpose of study.

If you have obtained a Saskatchewan driver’s license as a ‘learner’ you are required to drive AT ALL TIMES with a qualified person. This means that you can never drive the vehicle unless accompanied by a person who has had a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license for at least one year. Even driving in a parking lot is not permitted unless you are accompanied by a qualified person.

For further information on acquiring a driver’s license in Saskatchewan, please contact SGI or the International Students Office.
